Showcasing our architects’ experience in hotel design
At PSK Architect, our team draws from a wealth of experience accumulated during projects they worked on prior to joining forces under the PSK Architect name. Their collective expertise in hotel design, honed through involvement in prestigious projects, is what enables us to deliver exceptional results today. Let’s take a look at some of the key hotel projects that our architects were designed before being part of PSK Architect, including The Greenway Hotel in Shurdington, Horstead Place in East Sussex, and the Emerald Hotel in Tirana, Albania.
The Greenway Hotel:
A Symbiosis of History and Modern Luxury Before PSK Architect was born, Paul Karlsson, our Principal Architect, led the extensive refurbishment and extension of The Greenway Hotel, a historic Tudor manor located in Shurdington, Cheltenham. This iconic property was transformed with a focus on adding luxury guest rooms and modern amenities, while preserving its rich architectural heritage. Paul’s vision was to create a seamless blend of past and present, rejuvenating the hotel into a luxurious destination while respecting the historical integrity of the building.
The Greenway has long attracted high-profile visitors, such as the UKs first female Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher and two American presidents, offering them a luxurious retreat set in the idyllic English countryside. Thanks to Paul’s efforts, this prestigious hotel continues to provide an exceptional experience for guests while preserving its storied history.
Horstead Place:
Enhancing Functionality with Elegant Design Another of Paul’s notable projects before founding PSK Architect was Horstead Place, a grand country house in East Sussex. Paul led a kitchen extension and internal alterations to the property, enhancing its functional spaces while maintaining its historical character. These carefully considered changes improved the guest experience, while preserving the timeless elegance that had made Horstead Place a favourite among discerning travellers. The hotel’s legacy as a retreat for the elite is supported by its continued appeal, thanks in part to the thoughtful design interventions made under Paul’s guidance.
Emerald Hotel, Tirana, Albania:
A Modern Landmark Before joining PSK Architect, Ed and Eli were integral to the design of the Emerald Hotel in Tirana, Albania. From conducting a meticulous measured survey to specifying every detail of the furniture, they oversaw the hotel’s transformation into a modern masterpiece. The use of black granite on the public floors and onyx cladding in the lobby’s front facade lent the hotel a sleek and contemporary appeal, creating an inviting atmosphere for guests seeking both luxury and comfort.
The Emerald Hotel has since become a modern landmark in Tirana, known for its striking design and high-end interiors. This project reflects Ed and Eli’s ability to deliver cutting-edge architectural solutions that meet the needs of today’s hospitality industry.
A Team Steeped in Hotel Design Expertise These projects, completed before Paul Karlsson founded PSK Architect and before Ed and Eli joined the firm, highlight the extensive experience our team brings to every hospitality project we undertake.
